¡Veggielution Cocina!

We’re cooking up something new and exciting at Veggielution and it’s all about East San José…

With generous support from the Sobrato Family Foundation, on Saturday, March 5, we will host the first of 9 Veggielution Cocina! (Veggielution Cooks!) classes. This Spanish-language community cooking class series will bring together a guest chef and up to 20 participants to cook seasonal, affordable, culturally-relevant, and delicious meals right here at the farm.  Our guest chefs are local restaurateurs, talented home cooks and Veggielution farm box members focused on bringing out the best of our locally-grown bounty. In addition to taking home a prepared meal, classmates will share dishes they made together with otherVeggielutionaries at our Saturday potluck lunch. Concurrent, hands-on activities focused on healthy eating and outdoor exploration will be offered for younger children in our adjacent Youth Garden, with childcare services provided at no extra cost. Class registration is $10, the entire amount of which is returned as a Farm Stand voucher upon completion of the class.

At Veggielution, we believe that the community that cooks together grows strong together. We are thrilled to have this chance to offer ¡Veggielution Cocina! to showcase the Eastside food traditions that define and celebrate the wonderful diversity of San José. The traditional connections in East San José between food, farming and the immigrant cultures are key to a more vibrant local food system.

Veggielution Cocina! is offered as part of our expanded First Saturday programming, which also includes Art in the Garden, Saturday Farm Stand and Yoga on the Farm.  By creating a fun, safe environment in which to meet new people and learn together, we aim to co-create a strong, community-driven food system that leverages the unique assets of East San José.

Become a Veggielutionary! Join our effort to provide fun, culturally-relevant programs in East San José.  Your donation of $100 covers the cost of one participant to learn more about basic cooking techniques to make a delicious meal from local, seasonal produce.

Visit us at Veggielution on March 5 to see how ¡Veggielution Cocina! and First Saturdays are connecting our community through food and farming.
