Veggielution was founded in 2007 by three San Jose State students, who first gardened in backyards near campus.  In 2008 they started a garden at Emma Prusch Park, in East San Jose,  on a 1/6th of an acre. With each passing year, the farm expanded a little at a time to finally reach its current size of 6 acres in 2013. This land was originally Emma Prusch’s Dairy Farm. Emma ended up giving her land to the city on the condition that it be used for agricultural education. We are very grateful that she had the amazing foresight to leave this resource for us.

Over time, Emma Prusch Park was developed to include a community garden, rare fruit orchard, playground and field, small animal feeding area, and 4H raises farm animals in CA’s largest freestanding barn. This back 6 acre plot sat largely fallow until Veggielution got here and started to build this community farm.

At each stop on your self-guided tour, you will learn about one of our programs. Please take time to use all your senses: sight, smell, touch, sound, and even taste during your walk!
