The new year is bringing changes of epic proportions to our farm. Seriously, if you haven't been out to Veggielution since November of last year, you will barely recognize it the next time you come out. Our new farm stand, packing shed, cooling shed, potluck area and demonstration kitchen are 2/3 complete. These buildings make up Veggielution Village, the new hub of the farm where folks will congregate. We've also made great progress on installing the irrigation system on our new four acres, and a second greenhouse is going up nicely. We've made great progress on the infrastructure that will make 2013 the biggest year for Veggielution to date. However, January is a critical month to get these projects completed so that we can start the year off right with new, completed facilities. We are still in need of new farm equipment, such as; a tractor and implements, irrigation supplies and hand tools. So please consider donating to support these projects.

The farm is now three times as large, which with more volunteer help, will allow us to impact significantly more community members. We will need to mobilize hundreds of volunteers to complete building projects throughout the year, propagate plants in our greenhouse, harvest crops and maintain the entire site to a high standard. We need anyone with building or carpentry experience to report to the farm immediately for assignments. Well, maybe not if it's the middle of the night - wait till our next workday or get in contact with me personally. We will be installing pavers, cupboards and shelves in our farmstand and kitchen, racks for tools, tables and irrigation for the greenhouses, gates and a whole number of other projects throughout January and February. Volunteers who can commit a full day or two of focused work are highly prized and will be paid with an abundance of vegetables hand-picked by the farm crew.

In addition to builders, we need plenty of regular workday volunteers. Right now is also your opportunity to become a Workday Leader. Workday leaders sign up for at least two workdays a month and help facilitate volunteers in completing farm work. The workday leaders are very fun and dedicated group of people, so definitely consider joining this elite squad if you plan to be a part of the Veggielution volunteer workforce for the long term. The workday leader class runs February 16-March 23 every Saturday from 11am-3pm. The course is composed of a practical course, lunch, and a lecture in the afternoon.
