Veggielution Cocina is a Spanish language* cooking classes that aims to connect people through food during the time they spend together in class. It is essential that kitchen Volunteers not only helps with the cooking aspect of the class, but also that they facilitate dynamic conversation so that people in a group start the class as strangers and leave with new, meaningful connections. *Not necessary to speak Spanish to be able to volunteer
Volunteers will act as a cooking assistant to the lead chef during the class by helping participants prepare and cook a meal. This role with assist with sorting, storing and distributing ingredients to class participants and groups. The volunteers will ensure the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic throughout the class and after the class ends before leaving for the day. Additionally, the volunteers will help lead the washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking of ingredients, answer participants’ questions and help distribute food to participants for lunch. Lastly, the volunteers will lead dishwashing and help to ensure the kitchen is clean.
