Sensory Tour & Taste Test

Students will take a tour of the farm, gaining awareness through their senses while stopping at locations of interest. The tour will culminate with a taste test and a discussion of seasonally available vegetables and/or fruits.

Compost Competition

Students will review decomposition, and be introduced to the concept of compost, through a visual demonstration and interaction with a worm bin. Students will then be given materials to work in teams to design their most efficient compost pile, followed by evaluation and discussion.

Seed Sowing Project

Students will work together to sow seeds for next season's crops, while discussing the abiotic and biotic factors that play key roles in plant growth. Bioaccumulation Activity

Students will learn about Veggielution's organic approach to growing food, and take part in a game to demonstrate the chain effect of chemical accumulation that happens when pesticides or herbicides are used in the environment.

Our Youth Program Manager aligns each activity to NGSS standards. Our activities present powerful opportunities to meet Common Core standards. Students are inspired to write papers or design presentations when they can create content that represents or reflects upon a personal experience. A day at Veggielution will provide the opportunity to develop a sense of place.
